Foreword by Ken Wilber to Andrew Cohen's book "Living Enlightenment"

(Gary's note: My ego doesn't like Andrew's ego, but I do love what Ken has written here, and will be buying the book)

When it comes to spiritual teachers, there are those who are safe, gentle, consoling, soothing, caring; and there are the outlaws, the living terrors, the Rude Boys and Nasty Girls of God realization, the men and women who are in your face, disturbing you, terrifying you, until you radically awaken to who and what you really are.

And may I suggest?: choose your teachers carefully.

If you want encouragement, soft smiles, ego stroking, gentle caresses of your self-contracting ways, pats on the back and sweet words of solace, find yourself a Nice Guy or Good Girl, and hold their hand on the sweet path of stress reduction and egoic comfort. But if you want Enlightenment, if you want to wake up, if you want to get fried in the fire of passionate Infinity, then, I promise you: find yourself a Rude Boy or a Nasty Girl, the ones who make you uncomfortable in their presence, who scare you witless, who will turn on you in a second and hold you up for ridicule, who will make you wish you were never born, who will offer you not sweet comfort but abject terror, not saccharin solace but scorching angst, for then, just then, you might very well be on the path to your own Original Face.

The “Rude Boy” quotation from Wilber is intended, as you know, to justify and validate the narcissistic/authoritarian abuse at both Cohen’s and Adi Da’s ashrams.

If you’re going to be complicit, be bold.
If you’re going to oppose, be bold.

In response to your flame throwing in the comments field of my blog, I have no more control over the ads displayed on my blog then you have over the ads displayed on yours. It is very surprising to me that this fact is not clear to you Mr. Stamper. Perhaps a little more knowledge of blogging is called for before criticizing others work. I also wonder how someone who believes he is an enlightened being sees no problem attacking another. Try to be a little more open minded, as there is much happening behind the scenes that you may not be aware of. We all have our areas that we can improve upon, and each day presents opportunities for this growth.

Hi Greg - Thanks for responding to me about my questions on your blog. I'm sorry you consider legitimate questions "flame throwing." Perhaps if you had spent a little more time on my blog, you would have noticed that it is ad free, precisely for the reason you state: No choice over ads, although, apparently you're not aware that you can control the content of ads (at least on Blogger.com). You also have the option not to monetize your blog. Also, if you'd be kind enough to point out where I've indicated I believe I'm an enlightened being, I'll remove it immediately with an apology. Other than what I consider to be really bad ad choices and that you made reference to a video that "proved" your point that you did not share, I enjoy your website.

It appears that Greg Giles is no longer accepting comments on his blog. He has not responded to my asking him to point out where I claimed to be "enlightened." Sadly, my sense is that those who believe that we're about to be "rescued" by beneficent aliens are simply expressing a higher - but not high enough - perspective on the saviour mythology. We don't get to grow up and mature if we keep adhering to any forms of this perspective. In order to truly grow up as humankind, we need to do this ourselves, and not keep getting rescued by "daddy" figures. That said, if I'm proven wrong about what's going to happen and we are rescued by friendly aliens at some point, I'm happy to admit I was wrong, but will still be disappointed that we have not yet become mature enough to do it ourselves (PS: I don't enjoy your website that much, but the background is awesome!).

New update on Greg Giles and his "channeling" of the "Galactic Federation" coming to humanity's rescue: It appears that Greg and the Galactic Federation are both "birthers" who believe that President Obama was not born in the US and that it's all part of a plot to enslave us. I'm calling BS and I'm doing it here because apparently Giles can't stand the heat of comments on his blog since he removed the comments section after I initially questioned hi (see above). Greg, are you a reptile or a wolf in sheep's clothing?
