The Boy Who Would Be King... is.
I awoke this morning, my brain still in a fog, and in the middle of my morning coffee I realized:
"I'm living in a monarchy."
Well, whaddya know?... Donald Trump could shoot someone on the streets of New York and get away with it.
Make no mistake, even though Donald Trump has been brazenly acting like a monarch long before he became president, he was crowned last night even before it's become official.
Even as many of the cowardly group of men and women voted not to convict sheepishly agreed he did it, they still voted not to convict the dangerous charlatan and a huge segment of us thinks that's good...
I'm deeply saddened that these men and women decided to violate their oaths of office and dismantle the constitution and yet I understand why, and it's not pretty. I understand why friends and family members who I love dearly and will continue to do so even though they supported this fraud of a man who measures his success by his ability to dominate others in his "winner takes all" mentality.
I understand why fundamentalist evangelicals "sold their souls" for this false god. I understand that any hope of possibly stopping our self-inflicted "omnicide" from climate change has been dashed.
...and I'm saddened to know how they're gonna feel when Trump's pathologies are turned on them as it will.
I shudder to see what despicable act the newly crowned monarch who is blind to his own deathwish will foist upon us.
The country born overthrowing a monarch just changed its mind and he can do whatever he wants. There is no balance of power, no one to stop him... except the people, many of whom know they just got fucked.
Time to go to work because it's the right thing to do... breathe...

How Do the Democrats Move Forward After Impeachment?
The good news for Pelosi is that there are no guidelines or how long Pelosi can withhold the transmittal of the articles... the bad news is that if she continues to hold the transmittal she runs the risk that public opinion, currently on her side, might turn...unless...
1. Explain what you're doing. Make a huge fuss over refusing to transmit the Articles of Impeachment to a kangaroo court incapable of conducting a fair trial with witnesses, and that - by their own words - has already decided on an outcome.
2. Keep the pressure up. Trump will likely turn furious at not being acquitted and exonerated, giving more time for documents and information to surface, court rulings, and will make dumb mistakes that he will not be able to avoid due to his psychological makeup.
3. Use the power of the subpeona. Keep everything completely transparent, it's time to actually subpoena all of the witnesses who refused or were told to refuse to testify by the president. That includes Trump, Pence, Barr, Pompeo, Mulvaney, Giuliani, white house workers past and present... . and others, forcing them to testify before the House Judicial Committee or face Contempt of Congress charges.
4. Use the tools that come with subpoena power. That includes Contempt olf Congress charges, arrests, jailing, fines, etc. The criminal offense of "contempt of Congress" sets the penalty at not less than one month nor more than twelve months in jail and a fine of not more than $100,000 or less than $100. Use it to make examples.
5. Make the process completely transparent. Make sure the public is kept aware of any efforts to subvert anything less than the truth.
This is where we must not tire, grow weary of this necessary and sometimes painful process,. Whatever the outcome, it will yield a profound effect on what kind of country we are to become, and pehaps determine even the survival of our democracy itself.

The Sometimes Impenetrable Wall of Western Medicine

It's been 12 days since my total left hip replacement surgery. One of my goals going in was to be in the best possible physical health and shape I could be in given my age, knowing the impact that would have on my recovery. Since I have no previous surgeries, I have nothing to gauge my recovery, but my doctor tells me I'm recovering quickly.
One of my other goals was to get off opioid pain killers as quickly as possible, so I did a lot of research on holistic and natural pain relief and spoke to other holistic practitioners that I've known a long time and respect and wound up with several alternative possibilities, including my old staples of Arnica and Rescue Remedy, CBD oil, and something I'd not heard of before, "Ghost (or Indian) Pipe." Last, an old standby that I hadn't considered, THC, or marijuana.

| Ghost Pipe |
Also to his credit, I received two types of pain killers: Oxycodone - Stronger and one of the most addictive opioid pain medications - and Tramadol - milder and not an opioid but acts in the same way, including an addiction risk.
When I woke after surgery, I felt fine and was immediately helped up to take a short "walk" with my new walker and my nurse. The next morning I was still feeling "fine," ate a good breakfast, spoke with several of the attendants who wanted to make sure I understood what I was going to be doing when I got home and familiarized me further about my prescribed medications. Nobody had really prepared me for the amount of pain I was going to have when the residual anesthesia from the surgery eventually wore off.
I immediately took the recommended doses of the Oxycodone, one in the early afternoon, and one before bed that night.
Upon rising (sort of) the next morning, I decided that the zombie state created by the Oxycodone was just not going to work for me, so I switched over to the Tramadol. That worked fine for the next couple of days and nights but I was just on the edge of being too knocked out by it, so I cut the doses back by half and added the Ghost Ship tincture in with it. Now, Ghost Ship tincture doesn't really mask the pain, but, rather, allowed me to set it aside and just notice that it's there as if I were an observer. I had noticed similar results from deep meditation, which seemed perfect to me, so I just added it to my medication practice. A couple of days later, I decided to try the same thing with THC and found exactly the same results.
As I continued to heal (So-o-o slowly, I thought), I eliminated the THC and just relied on the half doses of tramadol, and finally to where I am now, just taking the Tramadol when I need it as the pain comes and goes with the amount of inflammation I seem to be having.
I fully get that this is anecdotal and may not be the way anyone else experiences the way these substances interacted and don't recommend you try this, and were it not for my hip surgery, I surely wouldn't have experienced any of this.
Oh, and by the way, as soon as my hip has healed, I'll be going in for a partial knee replacement and we'll get to start this process all over again.

Hillary Clinton: Still Patriarchal After All These Years?
10-22-2019:
Many of the many points I make in this article are taken directly from an earlier article I wrote and published in early 2013 titled “Hillary Clinton: The Patriarchal Feminine.” Hillary had just resigned as Obama’s Secretary of State a few days earlier. It is not necessary to read that article before reading this one, although reading the earlier article after reading this one feels like closing a loop. - Gary
in 2016, one of the reasons she lost to Trump was also because she was unable to open to her feminine and voters felt that if they were going to vote for a man, they would vote for an actual man, not a woman who largely acted like a man.
Fast Forward to 2019
In the wrap up, the article states
Where’s the Evidence?
What if all of this is conjecture? A reasonable person could look at just the turn of events and decide that this is worth having an intelligence agency look in to. To take this and call it out publicly without actually having evidence is just too “Alex Jones Style” conspiracy-theory- like and people will soon see through it, and the blowback from the public will likely drive the last nail into the coffin of her campaign.
In short, she’s using and demonstrating the same kind of tools and methods Trump would use. The main irony in this scenario could be that Clinton’s unproven claims have thrust Gabbard back in the spotlight and apparently even a chance to move forward in the polls.
Another question that needs to be considered is, “Where’s the advantage in attacking a low-polling candidate?"
Tulsi Gabbard has made some questionable moves here, as well, like appearing on the Tucker Carlson show on Fox News to defend herself against Hillary’s claims. I’d like to hear how that happened. Tucker Carlson recently claimed there’s no White Supremacy problem in America, that it’s “a hoax ” created by the media and the left, all while having guests on his show that defend white supremacists. Sounds like a radio interview I'd love to do....
But being a frequent guest on the Tucker Carlson show has buoyed her support in right wing circles, including an endorsement from white nationalist leader David Duike (which she disavowed), Joe Rogan, and Jack Dorsey, the chief executive of Twitter.

An Open Letter to BARK.com

Bark.com is a UK web-based services platform designed to connect buyers with service providers. ... Bark claims they are the best place to easily hire the right person to get all the tasks done professionally.
Frankly, I am not impressed. Here's why:
Dear Bark,
Did you know 10,000 baby boomers are reaching retirement age in the US every day?
According to the AARP, 10,000 baby boomers are turning 65 every single day, and this is expected to continue into the 2030s.
And you are totally ignoring this market!
As a Life Coach who works with the psycho-social aspects of retired men, helping them find meaning and purpose in their lives, BARK completely fails in helping me reach my customers.
Not only that, but you have also ignored my previous requests to open this market up, where LinkedIn rectified their problem with retirement searches by adding retirement search capabilities within 3 days on my contacting them.
Come on, people....time to wake the **** up!
And then I found this: BARK Reviews
My bad.

Finding Peace in the Midst of Chaos: The Power of Surrender

There is a war going on and you may or may not know about it. It is being fought on the internal and external planes of our existence. It is the war for our consciousness and the stakes could not be higher.
As we approach the third decade of the 21st century, more and more of us are becoming increasingly aware of how difficult these times are. We can see the changes all around us and they are not all good. For the first time in our history of this version of humankind, we stand on the precipices of extinction or totalitarianism. It is easy to see our situation as hopeless and for us to feel powerless in the face of the problems before us.
But we also stand on the edge of the greatest awakening humankind is ever seen. It is the 21st-century version of the oldest battle on the planet: the battle between “good”’ and “evil.” Only now, with our new awareness arising, many of us realize that it’s much more complex than that.
We are now beginning to realize that there is no “they,” that we are they, and they are us. We’re the ones who have brought us to these sharp-edged precipices, and there is only ourselves to blame. We are complicit through our lack of responsibility, our laziness, and our willingness to be bought off by material things and unnecessary comforts. We have allowed ourselves to become divided, to believe we are separate, not one, and we have largely lost our humanity, our connection to each other.
We are taught, and we have accepted, to blame others for our situation. It’s the international bankers, it’s the government, it’s the corporations, it’s the blacks, it’s the whites, it’s the other religion, it’s the money system, it’s the industrial-military complex. Actually, all of these things are just different versions of control that is interconnected. The control is very deep and goes back thousands of years. It is ingrained in our psyches, and we allow it to exist by our lack of awareness and our willingness to be controlled.
How Do We Free Ourselves?
First, we need to free ourselves from the belief that we will win this battle or the belief that the battle can’t be won. Ultimately, it is not winning or losing that matters. It is the struggle that matters. By surrendering to whatever emerges. Surrender is not the same thing as quitting.
Osho, the Indian mystic, guru and spiritual teacher, told a story about surrender in The Discipline of Transcendence, Vol. 4, chapter 4: Let Go of the Branch:
The man was so surprised, he almost lost his grip on the branch. “Please God, you are wrong, I really mean it; I will believe.”
“Oh no, you won’t. That’s what they all say.”
The man pleaded and argued. Finally God said, ”Alright, I will save you. Let go of the branch.“
“Let go the branch?” The man exclaimed. “Do you think I am crazy?”
Osho explained, even when we have nothing to lose we are afraid to surrender. The man says, “Let go of the branch? Do you think I am crazy?” Hanging onto this branch in the cold wind, and his grip every moment becoming weaker and weaker and still he is not ready to surrender.
The problem is not somewhere outside; the problem is within us. We have to be saved from ourselves. In surrender, we drop the enemy that is us. In that very dropping, the inner darkness disappears. When we surrender, in that very surrender something happens and our inner light starts burning, our inner light starts becoming clear. Clouds disappear.
We want to change the world, we want things to be how we think they should be, while in reality, one of the great secrets is that we are the only thing we can change. Our desire to change the world, and how we go about it, is often situated in our need to be control freaks.
In an article called Let Go of Control: How to Learn the Art of Surrender, by Dr. Amy Johnson, on the blog tiny buddha, she says there are three things she knows about trying to control things:
We try to control things because of what we think will happen if we don’t. In other words, control is rooted in fear.
To control is also a result of being attached to a specific outcome – an outcome we're sure is best for us, as if we always know what’s best. When we trust that we’re okay no matter what circumstances come our way, we don’t need to micromanage the universe. We let go. And we often open ourselves all sorts of wonderful possibilities that aren’t there when read attached to one “right” path.
The energy of surrender accomplishes much more than the energy of control. I suspect it’s slightly different for everyone, but here’s what control mode looks and feels like for me. My vision gets very narrow and focused, my breath is shallow, adrenaline is pumping and my heart rate increases. My mind shifts from topic to topic and from past to future very quickly, and I have little concentration, poor memory, and almost no present-moment awareness.
She goes on to say, “so the great irony is that attempting to control things actually feels less in control. When I’m micro-managing and obsessing over details, I know I’m in my own way.
The Practice of Surrender
Like most of the major changes in our lives, surrender is not something we can usually just decide to do on the spur of the moment. Just as the man on the limb in the story above could not let go, even though he realized he would eventually not be able to hold on any longer, there are too many obstacles in our way for us to suddenly just decide to do it. There is cultural conditioning, fear, ego, as was also pointed out above, there are the control issues we all find within ourselves. We use controlling thoughts negatively in relationships, within the “what if” situations, with our health, in love, and in all aspects of our lives including immediate threats like climate change that seem totally out of our control.
It’s no wonder we cannot learn to surrender. We have come to believe that we can control anything outside of ourselves, and it is an illusion. We do, however, have the ability to choose our thoughts and responses to everything.
So let me suggest a couple of ways we can begin to learn how to surrender:
Using the words I surrender as a mantra, we can create a simple shift in our thought patterns that have the possibility of letting go of the session and move into the natural flow of whatever momentary thought pattern we find ourselves in.
We can also use I surrender as an affirmation about a particular situation. Simply apply it to solve your challenges, and say it as if it is already true.
Pay attention when you find yourself in a stressful situation that you cannot change, and consciously allow yourself to surrender.
No matter how you surrender, whether it’s “let go and let God,” by creating affirmations and mantras, there is a certain peace that comes with complete helplessness.
Here’s the difference between surrendering and giving up:
Surrendering comes without drama, while giving up almost always feels like dramatic exasperation and putting the blame on others who must surely be at fault.
Surrendering is a decision that allows you to remain engaged. When we surrender we have chosen our role, and giving up is more like a way out.
Surrender brings a sense of peace even in a painful situation, where giving up feels like a loss, incompletion and unfulfilling.
Surrender isn’t a sign of weakness, it’s a sign of great strength, and the ability to surrender and drop the conflict around a particular situation can change your life.
And maybe even the world.
An excerpt from the poem “Surrender” – by Rumi
Very little grows on jagged rock.
Be ground. Be crumbled,
so wildflowers will come up
where you are.
You have been stony for too many years.
Try something different.
Surrender.
